Society

The mission of the Harvey Dunn Society (HDS) is: To commemorate and celebrate the work of South Dakota artist Harvey DunnTo provide encouragement and recognition for artists and the arts ranging from the visual and performing art, to design and the written word and to build appreciation for the history and the culture of the Prairie.

    In support of this effort, the HDS Board hosts an annual Plein Air event -Painting on the Prairie  -  held on the beautiful plains landscape surrounding  De Smet, South Dakota.

Founding Board

The Harvey Dunn Society was established in 2007 as the vision and aspiration of founding members Phyllis & Dr. G. Robert Bell. They, along with the founding board (see below), brought to life this lasting initiative.
