Jane Bell

Jane has always loved the fine arts, and has been involved in music and theater since childhood. She also tried her hand at painting and drawing as a youth but after taking a few classes at the YMCA she found her appreciation of art exceeded her abilities in the field. Jane also grew up loving the stories of the Ingalls family. When her family moved to Huron, she was thrilled to find that De Smet was only a short drive from their new home. Her family visited De Smet early on after the move and were delighted to be shown around by Aubrey Sherwood, the local newspaper owner who had known Laura and her family personally. Jane later married Aubrey's youngest grandson and was drawn in to the Harvey Dunn Society's Plein Air event by Bob and Phyllis Bell. Jane loved the camaraderie of the artists who attended and the wide variety of artistic styles the event attracted. She was honored to join the Harvey Dunn board in 2023.
