Rita Anderson
Board Member
Rita is one of the longest running HDS board members and has put her professional skills to work in the vital role of advertising and promotion.
Rita worked for over 30 years in community and economic development in both Colorado and South Dakota acquiring several awards for her excellent work. Returning to De Smet in 2011 she became Director of the De Smet Development Corporation, retiring in 2022, and has chaired the De Smet Area Community Foundation.
Rita grew up on a farm near De Smet where she learned about hard work and persistence, traits that carried over in to her baton twirling competitions reaching the National Baton Twirling Hall of Fame. She has raised a son and a daughter, has four grandchildren and, though retired, still doesn't know how to take it easy as she remains ever active in the community.
